For many of us, before we are homeowners, we are renters. And many times when you are renting, space is limited.
It’s one thing to have a small living room or bedroom, but it really does stink to have a super small kitchen. I mean really, is there some kind of law that requires rental apartments to supply no more than a single square of kitchen counter space to each unit? If you’re struggling to prep and cook your meals, it may be time for a little kitchen revamp.
Follow these 3 easy tips and transform your rental kitchen into the kitchen of your dreams.
- Get Rid of Items That You Do Not Need
I’m sure if you rummage through your cabinets, you’ll find a handful of items that you haven’t used in over a year. You should also check the expiration on some of the food items as well. If there is something in decent condition, but you just have no use for it consider donating it.
2. Light It Up
It’s no secret that good lighting can change the entire dynamic in any room. If your kitchen is dedicated to getting things done and starting your day, invest in cool lighting — the kind that washes everything in a bright, sunlit glow. A refreshing, cooler light wakes us up and creates an invigorating feeling.
3. Be Unique
Adding little odds and ends can really help to bring your kitchen to life. Think “antique”. Using pieces like your grandmother’s teapot on a shelf or hanging some cool art on the wall can really help to brighten up the kitchen and make it feel a bit cozier. Don’t be afraid to put up extra shelves as well. This will also help with the space issue.
