Halloween Safety Tips

It’s that time of year again - Halloween! Very soon our streets will be filled with little Ghouls and Goblins on the search for candy. Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to child safety. There are several easy and effective behaviors that parents can share with kids to help reduce their risk of injury. Walk Safely Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. Teach children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them. Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Teach children to never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars. NO SCREEN TIME. Put electronic devices down and keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street. Always Trick or Treat With an Adult Children under the age of twelve should always have at least one adult with them. Remember, there is safety in numbers so try to walk in a group. What to Look For in a Rental

Whether it’s a one-bedroom or a townhouse, you need to prepare yourself for spending countless hours online looking for the perfect one to call home. You also need to prepare yourself to actually drive to these places because a lot of the time they do not look the same in person as they did online. In order to save yourself time and headaches, make sure each listing has all the information you’ll need to be provided. The last thing you want is to find your dream apartment only to find out it is not pet-friendly. It would have been nice if that were on the listing, right? As you begin your search, here are a few other things to keep in mind to help make this as stress-free as possible: Pay Attention to Detail The first thing that should be shown is how many bedrooms, bathrooms, and the square footage of each. Especially if you are the newbie in town, this is a great way to break the ice. It also shows your neighbors that you are thinking of them. Keep The Gossip to Yourself Everyone has a tendency to gossip from time to time. However, gossiping really isn’t the best th…

Restaurant Review: Patricia’s of Holmdel

Don't Pass on Patricia's of Holmdel, a Family Favorite for Everyone Every town in New Jersey has at least one Italian establishment. Some probably even have several. But none have the charm of Patricia's of Holmdel. Having finally made it to the restaurant, I could not have been more delighted. Being greeted by the lovely lady at the hostess desk, her smile alone was a beautiful invitation into the night. There were several other hostesses with an equally radiant energy working to accommodate the many patrons that filled the entrance. Beyond them there was a vibrant room set with tables of families and friends, all sharing an evening of good food and wine. Although the latter really depends on you since the restaurant has a BYOB policy. We had made our reservation in advance so we were taken to our table right away. Since we brought along a dog, we were seated out front and away from everyone else. This provided for a peaceful environment, rather than the crowded ind…
